Knowing the cost of a 3-day Caribbean cruise is key to planning that next quick family getaway.
Unlike certain governments, my family (and I'm sure yours), must give special attention to how much money we spend on what - even for a well-deserved vacation.
Taking a 3-day cruise to the Caribbean is indeed a great idea, but what will it cost families of three, four or five people?
Let us look at what an inclusive cruise vacation will cost your family.
My Wife & Kids in Cozumel
First off, we must note that certain factors will affect the cost of your Caribbean cruise package:
1. The Caribbean cruise line you choose - Carnival Cruise Line and MSC Cruises generally offer the least expensive 3-day cruise packages to the Caribbean.
2. The time of year you travel - Your 3-day Caribbean cruise cost will be far less if you travel during certain seasons, such as spring and fall and will always cost more during the summer and around any holiday.
3. The type of cabin you choose - An inside cabin will cost less than an oceanview or balcony cabin, and much less than a suite.
Additionally, an inside cabin for 2 people with a pair of bunk beds, will cost more than any other inside cabins.
4. The number of people in your family - Your 3-day Caribbean cruise will cost more if there are four members in your family sharing two cabins than if all four members share the same cabin.
Yes, I understand that age matters. If the members of your family are of a certain age, it may be tough to have everyone in one cabin.
However, aim to keep family members in one cabin to minimize your the cost of your 3-day cruise.
Note: Caribbean cruise liners have a minimum number of cabins that hold four or four people.
Therefore, if your family numbers more than three people you should plan to book early to ensure that you grab one of the available cabins for your 3-day Caribbean cruise.
When searching for a 3-day cruise cost or any length cruise, you will notice a posted price. That cruise price is always the starting fare. This means the first price you see will generally be the least expensive cabin type and fare category.
For example:
1. Carnival Cruise Line's least expensive cabin is an interior cabin with only bunk beds.
2. Royal Caribbean's lowest fare is an interior cabin and the rate type is "nonrefundable deposit".
Additionally, the posted cruise price is what the first two guests in a cabin will pay. If there are more people in your party, the posted price sometimes jumps to a higher rate and then everyone else in the cabin will pay less - usually the same amount.
There are some instances when the posted price remains the same for the first two guests in the cabin and the others pay less.
