Cruise Industry News

Here are two of several things happening in the cruise industry:

1. Celebrity Adds Overnight Itineraries

Many cruise guests complain that there is not enough time given to explore certain ports of call.

Consequently, some cruise lines add overnight stops in certain destinations.

Celebrity Cruises is among the newest cruise lines offering this gift to its cruise passengers.

Starting with some 2016 itineraries, Celebrity will give guests the opportunity to overnight in select ports of call.

Among the ports with overnight calls are Aruba, Barbados, Cartegena, Cozumel and St. Maarten.

Expect to have much more time for fun aboard certain Celebrity 2016 sailings.

2. Carnival Offers Amazing Group Cruise Promotion

Generally, if you have a travel agent help you set up a Carnival group cruise booking you will need to ensure that you sell 8 cabins in order to earn a free fare.

Also, each guest is required to pay $25 within 60 days of setting up the group booking.

There is great news!

Now through June 30, 2015, you can have a travel agent set up a group cruise for you and no deposit is needed until 120 or 150 days before sailing.

In addition, after you have 10 guests paying the full fare you will earn one free fare. This is really cool!

The sailings that qualify for this Carnival group cruise promotion are limited and will occur in 2016.

Act fast to benefit from this amazing group cruise offer from Carnival. See your Agent for more information.

Plan A Group Cruise

A group cruise is generally comprised of at least 8 cabins (number varies by cruise lines), each with 2 or more passengers.

Group Cruise Ideas: graduation celebration, retirement celebration, family reunions, employee appreciation, club or organization fundraiser, girlfriends' getaway, couples' retreat, church outing, wedding, etc.

Reasons for planning a group cruise:

Cruising with a group is much more fun than cruising alone. I have done both and really prefer sailing with a group. Furthermore, there are perks to be had when cruising as a group.

Plan your group cruise today. Learn more about group cruises here.

Upcoming Group Cruise Opportunity

You are invited to join Petes Travel Center on what is dubbed: Cruise Pack Mission to Cozumel.

On this cruise, each guest is asked to bring a backpack with supplies for orphans in Cozumel. Petes Travel Center will provide the backpacks and guests are asked to volunteer to add the supplies.

The dates are February 15-20, 2016 - Presidents' Day week. It is a 5-day sailing aboard Carnival Elation out of New Orleans to Cozumel and Progreso, Mexico.

Prices for inside cabins start under $400 per person and under $450 per person for oceanview cabins. In addition, each cabin will have $50 to spend onboard the ship.

Cruise Saving Tip

Here is something everyone loves - learning how to save a buck or two on their cruise ship vacation.

Tip: Sail To Alaska In May or September

Similarly to the Caribbean, cruising to Alaska is quite popular. Princess Cruises is the top cruise line sailing to Alaska and there are many other cruise lines plying that route.

As cruise lines compete, you benefit from the fares.

However, fares to Alaska tend to be high. To live your dream of sailing to Alaska, plan to visit in May or September. The cruise season to Alaska generally runs from May to September, with the most popular sailing times being in the middle.

Do you want to save? Plan to visit in May or September.

Happy saving!
